Home Network: Home wireless networking product

Home wireless networking product

There are many different types of home wireless networking products. Each has a different purpose. A wireless router is essential to the operation of the network as it acts as the central communications hub of the network, routing data between different machines. Many routers have built in modems for Internet access. This means that the router can access the Internet and users can easily share an Internet connection. Such a router is known as a wireless broadband modem router. Many routers have built in extras such as firewalls for added security.

Each user will require a way of accessing the network. Laptop users will require a wireless access card in USB or PCMCIA form, unless they have built-in wireless. PC users will require a wireless access adaptor in PCI form.

Other wireless products include wireless print servers for sharing printers, and wireless media centers for accessing audio and video across a wireless network and viewing it on home entertainment systems.
