How does wireless networking work
Wireless networking works by combining wireless technologies in order to create a network similar to traditional wired networks. Wireless equipment uses radio transmissions to send and receive data. The technology is not unlike that found in cordless phones. An access point or router has the same functionality as a router in a wired network. Signals are propagated through the airwaves from sender to receiver. Wireless devices have built in technology to detect signal errors. A wireless access device enables the users computer to communicate with the access point. Wireless networks ease network installation and reduce cable clutter as there is no need for any cabling between two stations. The signal range and strength are constantly improving. Soon this will allow wireless stations to broadcast data for a few miles rather than a few feet. This will allow easy network and Internet access, even for those in remote areas.
